On Tuesday, November 15th, the North American International Livestock Exposition held the annual National 4-H Livestock Skillathon Contest in Louisville, Ky. The Florida 4-H Youth Development Program was represented by a team from Jackson County Florida 4-H and the Jackson County 4-H Livestock Club.
Team members included Nathalie Yoder, Anslie Yoder, Raigan Tidwell and Bethany Sistrunk. As a team, they placed 19th Overall. Individually, Nathalie Yoder was the highest scoring individual on the team with 20 teams and 77 individuals competing.
The National 4-H Livestock Skillathon is an event designed to test the livestock related knowledge of 4-H youth, through equipment, retail meat, and animal breed identification, hay and wool judging and questions, a quality assurance exercise, a quiz and several team exercises such as livestock nutrition and breeding scenarios.
