University of Florida Livestock Judging team Competes in NAILE National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest
On Monday, November 14th, the North American International Livestock Exposition held its annual National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, Ky. Florida was represented by a team from UF Animal Sciences Department and the University of Florida - Livestock Judging Team in the contest.
Team members included Rebekka Brown, Lizzie King, Allyson Trimble, Caroline Nichols and Clay Whitehead with Coach Ethan Propp. As a team, they placed 6th in Overall Sheep and 10th Overall. Individually, Brown was 18th in Overall Sheep, King was 20th in Overall Sheep and Brown was the highest scoring individual on the team with 29 teams and 130 individuals competing.
Livestock Judging is an event designed to test the evaluation and decision making skills of students through evaluating market and breeding beef cattle, swine, sheep and meat goats as well as the defense of placings via oral reasons.
